Clegg Group enters charity challenge

The Samworth Brothers Charity Challenge is an adventure challenge, which sees some of the biggest food companies, the Royal Marines and even the Brownlee Brothers enter and compete for their chosen charities. The challenge includes cycling, walking, and canoeing and will be held over two weekends, on 11 and 18 June 2022.

Clegg Group is entering two teams into the challenge this year: Team Clegg & Bacon and Team Clegg on Toast.

The two teams are raising money for Greggs Foundation and Crohn’s & Colitis UK. Clegg Group already supports The Greggs Foundation through its Breakfast Club, which provides breakfast to children who need it most, and want to continue this support by raising money in this challenge.

Team Clegg and Bacon and Team Clegg on Toast are also raising money for Crohn’s & Colitis, which is a charity close to the Clegg Food Projects heart as one of the team members, Lisa, has a sister who suffers with Crohn’s disease. 500,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease and aims to improve diagnosis and treatment as well as raise awareness.

Oliver Jenkins said:

“I can’t wait for Samworth Brothers Charity Challenge, we’ve been taking part for more than ten years and it’s an event the team really enjoy. Samworth Brothers has also been a long-standing client of Clegg Food Projects.

“The two charities, The Greggs Foundation and Crohn’s & Colitis, are both close to our hearts and we would like to be able to raise as much money as possible for both, helping to provide breakfast to children who need it most and for to those suffering with Crohn’s & Colitis. With June only four months away, it’s time to get training!”

Lisa Robinson added:

“The charities mean a lot to us, and we are raring to go with this year’s challenge. My sister was diagnosed with Crohn’s, when she was seven years old. I have seen her suffer with the disease since then and have seen how much it affects her day-to-day life. Thousands of others are also living with the disease or are undiagnosed, so it meant a lot to me that Clegg Group has chosen Crohn’s & Colitis as one of its chosen charities for the challenge, in order to help raise awareness and improve diagnosis and treatment.”

The Samworth Brothers Charity Challenge is usually held every two years and was due to take part last year but was postponed due to Covid-19. To donate to Clegg Group’s chosen charities, please follow the links below:
