Clegg Food Projects is proud to announce a £1,000 donation – in collaboration with Clegg Construction – to the 1st Sutton Coldfield Sea Scouts. The funds will be used to buy more paddle boards, supporting the Sea Scout Group’s goal of enabling young people to learn new skills and have exciting experiences.
Based at Powells Pool in Sutton Park, the 1st Sutton Coldfield Sea Scouts are a Royal Navy Recognised Sea Scout Group, one of only 100 groups in the UK to hold this prestigious distinction.
The Sea Scouts offer a wide range of water-based activities, including sailing, kayaking, rowing, and power boating, to help young people develop essential life skills and build their confidence. With equipment being used regularly, the need for repairs and replacements is constant. This is where Clegg Food Projects’ donation will make a difference, providing much-needed support for the group’s equipment needs, particularly their paddle boards.
Oliver Jenkins, Business Development Manager at Clegg Food Projects, said: “As we round off a fantastic year of fundraising – which has included participating in the Samworth Charity Challenge, strengthening our relationship with the Greggs Foundation and its Breakfast Clubs, embarking on a partnership with the Wildlife Trust, and much more – we’re delighted to donate £1,000 to the Sutton Coldfield 1st Sea Scouts. It’s great to support causes that are close to our hearts, and this donation is made possible thanks to our Employee Owned Trust.
“This contribution is part of Clegg Food Projects’ ongoing commitment to giving back to the local community. By supporting initiatives like the 1st Sutton Coldfield Sea Scouts, Clegg Food Projects helps nurture the next generation, ensuring they have the resources and experiences to thrive. We’re proud to be part of their journey, and we look forward to seeing how this donation helps them continue to inspire young people to achieve their potential.”
Peter Shergold, Group Lead Volunteer at the 1st Sutton Coldfield Sea Scouts, commented: “This donation from Clegg Group will allow more of our young people to get on the water and learn skills for life. We are hugely grateful for their support which will make a real difference to our young people.”
