The coronavirus pandemic has impacted every business in some way and we at Clegg Food Projects have had to adapt to meet the ever-changing situation.
The food and drink manufacturing sector has remained, for the most part, resilient and has continued moving forwards; particularly companies producing food and other goods for supermarket shelves – which includes many of our clients.
As a result, where practical and safe to do so we are continuing to deliver projects for our customers. Some projects that were put on hold by our clients are now being reviewed, with one due to start again in a couple of weeks.
Where our projects are proceeding, we have put a number of measures in place to ensure we are meeting the guidelines issued by the UK Government and Construction Leadership Council. Where required, changes have been made to our working practices and sequences to safeguard our teams and suppliers on site.
Our supply chain has also been supportive and material supplies, which initially caused some issues, now appear to be improving.
Generally, it appears that industry feels more positive than in recent weeks and we’ve certainly found that future business opportunities are continuing to come through. We have secured new projects, albeit with some delays to the start on site date whilst the current uncertainty continues. Overall, we are cautiously optimistic about the future.
