Health and safety is our number one priority on all our projects. Ensuring workplaces are safe for employee’s clients and suppliers alike is a very important aspect of our work.
We are therefore thrilled to announce that we have received the prestigious 2024 RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) President’s Award for our outstanding health and safety practices.
It marks Clegg Food Projects’ 13th consecutive Gold Award, which is deemed the ultimate symbol of achievement in health and safety excellence – something we are very proud of.
Clegg operates under an accredited ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) management system, which undergoes regular internal and external audits, and is communicated across both management and site teams. All projects – live and completed – involve constant feedback with a practical approach to implementation. This ensures our health and safety policies are understood and adhered to, which is reflected in our safety statistics and feedback from site audits, as well as our continued success at the RoSPA awards.
Example of excellent health and safety practices
A current project that perfectly demonstrates our commitment to health and safety is a new manufacturing facility for a defence client. The scheme has some challenges: it’s on a operational site and has a fast-paced project deadline. At times, we are managing numerous trades on site and the project deadlines under constant scrutiny.
Achieving a balance of quality, speed, and safety is always a challenge – but safety is always of the utmost importance, even when facing challenging timelines and site conditions.
As a result, we were really pleased to have our health and safety measures for the project highlighted in the Considerate Constructor Scheme Monitor Report. Achieving a ‘Very Good’ rating overall for the project, the report said, “the site has in place policies and procedures to show they value and care about the welfare and safety of the workforce.”
Health and safety standards
Not only are we proud RoSPA members, but we also hold several relevant industry standards including ISO accreditations, Safe Contractor, British Safety council, IOSH and many other certificates to ensure we really are the gold standard.
Oliver Jenkins, business development manager at Clegg Food Projects, said: “We’re incredibly proud of our health and safety protocols as they aim to keep everybody safe – from the staff in the office and on-site to clients visiting projects or trades completing their work.
“Being recognised for the 13th consecutive year by RoSPA is a fantastic accolade and a standard we will continue to strive for.”
